Our NYC brethren, The Knocks, just dropped off their newest mix just in time for all the debauchery I know you loyal readers have planned for this weekend. It has just the right amount of spirit and funk to keep ya dancing all day & night long. UHMERIKA NUMBER ONE!
Modern day Disco ambassadors, Escort, have announced a new single forthcoming this June 25th titled “Barbarians.” For those not familiar with the NYC ensemble, Escort provide a full, legitimate Disco sound, equipped with a live show featuring up to 17 performers. “Cocaine Blues” was the first tune that really turned me on to the group, and after their debut LP launched in 2011, I’ve always kept an ear out for the idiosyncratic collective. “Barbarians” picks up right where the self-titled debut album left off — flowing vocals and funktastic guitar riffs causing an undeniable urge to dance. Top stuff. √+
Sweet, Sweet, disco nectar delivered strait to your door. This sun-kissed ultra funky mix mutates & cultivates the vibes of Tropicool‘s essence in the South Bay. Everything is in full bloom, the birds, bees, and the myrts feel it. The sand is warm and the micheladas are frosty. Poseidon is holding a conch shell to his ear, and the vibration station is starting to reverberate. Perv and swerve, because for this one, you’re meant to loose control while on cruise control.
Exclusive Tracklisting After Jump
Yesterday, our good mate Doorly put together an 80-minute guest mix for us, featuring a handful of tunes we had never heard before. One of these tunes happened to be the closing track of the mix — a track called “disappearer” under a brand new project, Avec, consisting of Doorly and fellow UK producer, Dave Spoon (aka Shadow Child). “disappeared” is laden with piano and has an uplifting Disco House vibe to it. Oh ya, and did I mention that they brought in Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears for vocals? Yes, they did. And yes, it’s as good as you’d expect from these 3 together. Out on Southern Fried Records soon. √+

“We wanted to give something away when we hit 10K on Twitter. This one is for all the fans and DJs that have supported us, we love you! This is a record that we grew up with as children so we wanted to keep it classic, and groovy. Hope you enjoy it!”
